someone is using my social security but not my name?
I tried to apply for a cellphone and filled out an application online. The application then told me that my social security had already been used and that there was even a mortgage under my name! I want to catch these guys and file a report, but how do I do it?
I used to live in NJ and moved out west. Well, what happened a female with my same last name got my SS number and did the same frickin thing. She got a house loan, car loan and even filed a frickin bankruptcy in court. That actually cost me a job possibility last year, 2009.
So, I called Experian and they are worthless. They actually hung up on me.
Then I called my congresswoman and she got very active. all of a sudden Experian calls me all nice and how can we fix this. It took four months of sending credit reports back and forth and eventually all has been removed that belong to the unauthorized person using my SS number.
I called the Federal Trade Commission, they are oversigh on credit report companies. THe man told me to file a dispute with all 3 agencies and the above. The other two had no issues with my identity but my A$$ is now covered.
Takes time but you must begin immediately.
